Micro-lot by: Juan Gonzalo Salazar

Juan Gonzalo is a first generation coffee grower from the town of Union Cantinil, within the Huehuetenango Department of Guatemala.  He is one of the pioneers in coffee production in his hometown, where he has been harvesting coffee since 1978.  Juan Gonzalo now produces some of the highest-quality coffee in Union Cantinil, and is a proud member of the Association of Coffee Farmers of Union Cantinil (ASOCUC).  He has also held leadership positions in several other coffee cooperatives and organizations, helping many other farmers in the region gain access to micro-credit, local export companies, and training to improve their agricultural practices.  Juan Gonzalo has dedicated himself to making a better life for his family, working tirelessly to ensure all five of his children received a quality education.  Juan Gonzalo’s 2017 micro-lot for La Coop Coffee is part of his hand-picked harvest of the "Bourbon" variety, grown at an altitude of more than 4,500 feet above sea level, with flavor notes of fruit, sweet lemon, and chocolate milk.
